Summary
- An engineer-in-training with the ability to solve problems and
successfully complete projects in many areas of environmental compliance.
- Skilled in environmental regulations, site investigations, data
collection, soil and groundwater sampling, and installing groundwater
monitoring wells.
Professional Accomplishments
Wastewater
- Served as project engineer for the design of a 60 GPM Arsenic Removal and
Gallium/Gold Recovery System. The design included a covered structure,
conveyance systems, material compatibility analysis, and bid package
development.
- Served as project engineer-in-training for the upgrade design of a 3,000
GPM Industrial Wastewater Treatment System. The design included a tank wall
integrity testing, relining concrete basins, conveyance systems layout,
installation support, start-up assistance, and a groundwater monitoring
system.
- Conducted a wastewater reuse study of an avionics manufacturing facility.
Prepared preliminary design drawings and a report summarizing the study’s
findings and reuse recommendations.
Compliance
- Developed Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans for a number of major
manufacturers under NPDES and TPDES general permit requirements.
- Conducted inspections and evaluations of tank wall integrity, spill
containment capacity, and conveyance systems for Spill Prevention Control and
Countermeasure (SPCC) plans for industrial clients.
Remediation
- Assisted in design and application of treatment system for a large pond
contaminated by construction activities. Provided engineering oversight and
conducted treatment progress analysis.
- Designed and constructed a system for the in situ biodegradation of high
explosives. Managed the installation of the well field piping and cover.
Provided operational support during the project.
- Participated in the remediation of a secondary lead smelter superfund
site. Work performed included air monitoring, sampling, and treatment of
contaminated area.
Air
- Designed a ventilation booth that was used to transfer chemical from large
totes to small pails for a chemical manufacturer. The design included an
indoor structure with a plenum wall, air-handling unit, and associated
ductwork.
- Designed air pollution abatement systems for to recover methylene chloride
by means of carbon adsorption.
- Designed air pollution abatement systems for to recover hydrochloric acid
by means of a scrubber system.
- Designed sampling procedures and quality assurance/quality control
protocols to screen stacks for NOx. Conducted the screening of the stacks and
evaluated the data to determine estimated emission rate and possible reduction
solutions.
Site Investigation/Closures
- Received closure under the Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP) for a storm
water outfall that had been contaminated by operations at a semiconductor
manufacturing facility. Activities involved with the closure included soil
investigations, an Affected Property Assessment Report (APAR), and a Response
Action Completion Report (RACR).
- Received a certificate of completion under the TRRP for the remediation of
a city’s vehicle maintenance facility. Activities involved with the closure
included soil and groundwater investigations, an APAR, a Self-Implementation
Notice (SIN), and a RACR
- Received a Certificate of No Further Action from the Arkansas Department
of Environmental Quality for a manufacturing facility that had groundwater
impacted with diesel. Activities included horizontal and vertical product
delineation, product removal, source identification, and source removal.
- Conducted installation work, quarterly field sampling, and prepared
reports for several industrial facilities under TCEQ’s Voluntary Cleanup
Program.
- Developed and implemented a study to investigate the use of passive
diffusion bag sampling techniques to reduce cost and waste generation of
standard groundwater sampling techniques.
